ABOUT NANCY CORLISS, FOUNDATION DIRECtor
Nancy Corliss resides in Hudson Falls, NY and is retired from a lengthy and successful career as a special education teacher with a preference for teaching reading.
It was chance that brought Nancy to the Himalayas in 2005 after retiring from a lengthy and successful career as a special education teacher with a preference for teaching reading. On a visit to a Tibetan Children’s Village in India she found her first sponsored child, a little boy named Tashi Dorjee. Overcoming her extreme fear of flying, Ms. Corliss returned again and again to this harsh world that is culturally very different from the United States. It was physically challenging, and often frightening, but the children at TCV, encounters with His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and the extensive time spent at TCV changed her life immensely. On June 16, 2020 the world lost a true difference maker when she died peacefully following a brief illness with her son by her side.
